If you create a blog in Wordpress, you can link to that from a web site that you make in Freeway or Xway.

Freeway isn't a blogging program. There are some Actions that you can use to create templates for Blogger (but not Wordpress). You can also "roll your own" blog according to the following article:

Hi Jeremy,

Is the Beta of Xway still going to be released today, or has the date slipped a bit?

Just wondering...

Keep up the good work!

Cheers,

Steve.

This message (about Pinegrow Theme Converter) has been flagged by another user as possible spam.

We hesitated before we accepted it - but Pinegrow Theme Converter seems to be a program that you can use in conjunction with a web-design program to create a Wordpress theme, so it's not completely off-topic.

However, this is an Xway forum, and we will moderate or remove messages that are spam.

Pinegrow is a fellow-traveller to Softpress in the WYSIWYG design space. We don't, as a rule, discourage alternative options. At least that's what we did (do) on the Freewaytalk list. Your call, Jeremy.

We don't, as a rule, discourage alternative options.

After Softpress went into (temporary) liquidation, Freeway Talk became a bit of a free-for-all, with people recommending various alternative products. I think that was understandable at the time. People were looking for alternatives.

Things are different now. We are about to release an initial beta version of our own alternative to Freeway. My feeling is that if people want to promote alternatives to Xway, they can set up their own forums to do that.

We’re not planning to be heavy-handed about this - but we don’t want the Xway forum to be hijacked by non-Xway interests.

We decided that the message about “Pinegrow Theme Converter” didn’t fall into this category. It seems to be a complementary product that can be used alongside Xway or Freeway.

Xway b1 is here!

Jeremy Hughes

Edited

We have just released Xway b1, our next-generation program for visual web design.

You can download it from our web site:

https://www.softpress.com/xway/

Xway includes a detailed reference manual, which you can access by choosing “Xway User Guide” from the Help menu.

There is also a step-by-step tutorial and two sample documents, which are available from our web site (click on “Xway Resources” in the Help menu).

We recommend that people read (or skim) through the Xway User Guide introduction, and then work through the tutorial to get a hands-on feel for how Xway works.

Re: Xway b1

We missed our planned release time by about 90 minutes (we were aiming for 9pm GMT), but I think Joe has done a great job on the web site.

Can’t wait to see what the future is going to be like!
“The future is here” (slogan on our web site).

More seriously - Xway b1 is a starting point. We will be adding new stuff over the coming weeks and months.

And as Richard (Softpress CEO) has said, Xway is created by the same team that worked on Freeway. I started working on it in early 2018, but for the past year I’ve been working in a team with Stewart Fellows and Simon Manning, colleagues from “Softpress Towers”.

Tsk tsk.... :-)

Dramatic effect? Anyhow, it all looks perfectly agreeable. Time for a large Balblair malt then up tomorrow to give it a good seeing to.

I hope the team enjoy the rest of the evening.

Hooray!

But It’ll have to wait till the morning before I download it.
I’ll get some sleep now and be refreshed and ready to learn a new way of working, the Xway!

Cheers,
Steve.
