It almost sounds like using Xway will require us to build a new website completely starting over.
In future, Xway will be able to open Freeway documents.

You can use it to build new web sites now. You can also paste or import content from your existing web site into a new Xway site. If you have a fixed-size web site and you would like to create a flexible web site that adjusts to different devices (computers, tablets, phones), starting afresh in Xway isn't such a bad idea.

Hi Jeremy looking forward to the new app. It makes a great end to the year👍

Hello To all, I am Freeway Novice of 5 years... having only built 3 sites

jay farber

And started back at vs 5 if memory serves.

For me not so easy to get through.

Xway is of course a welcome change since the company and product went belly up.

My questions are:

If I am not that savvy to begin with.

Would I be better served with Elementor or Divi vs Freeway?

Or is Wordpress better or worse than a separate build like freeway?

Is there as much “Code Bloat with Freeway as there are with Elementor or Divi?

Which is better at SEO searches etc?

Seriously I am stuck trying to build another site and started with Godaddy Site Builder which to me has become a mistake in
just a few weeks of it being up.

I am writing a book on how to reduce back pain from a patients perspective and need to be able to do Amazon Affiliate sales along with a blog.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Hi Max

how are you?

I know you've done a immens lot of work for WepYep 2.0. Is that work lost now Freeway is vanishing and X-way is coming up?
Or is there a way that WepYep can succeed also with X-way?

Thanks

Andries

Hi Andries,

I'll let Max answer, but the following two points might be relevant:

1. Xway doesn't support Actions yet (it's on our to-do list).

2. It does support markup and markup items

Hi Jay,

Since this is Xway Talk, my suggestion is that you try Xway when it is released (tomorrow).

Xway has a detailed step-by-step tutorial that you can use to create a new site that will display flexibly on different devices. You could adapt this to create your own pages.

Wordpress is good for blogs. I used it for my Fretspace blog:

Serial Number.

Mad Farquhar

Hi,

I guess that to obtain sight of the Xway beta we will need to enter our previous serial number for Freeway?
Luckily I did a bit of delving in my old emails to find the number of my version (7.1.4) however I may not have registered it as it doesn't appear on the list I just had emailed to me. Will this be an issue?

Looking forward to the fireworks.

Gavin

Re: Serial Number.

Hi Gavin,

You don't need a Freeway serial number to use Xway b1 - it's free for anyone to use.

You can register your serial number with us, on our support page (https://www.softpress.com/register/index.html ), but it's valid whether you register it or not.

When we start selling Xway, there will be an upgrade path for Freeway users with serial numbers.

Jeremy

Cheers Jeremy. I think I'm sorted now. Fired in a registration and received an acknowledgement. Oh, and backed up in the wee card index too!

Thanks Jeremy,

Max replied to me already and there's a change that WepYep 2 will work with X-way, but the beta version has to see the light first and further updates.

I'm very curious about the result tomorrow! Keep up the good work!

Regards
Andries

Does adding a markup item still wrap custom code in a <p> tag? I do hope not.

(that's currently solved by adding Walt’s Crowbar action).

Markup items aren't wrapped in anything (apart from what you insert them into).

You can choose whether a markup item is "inline" (meaning it doesn't contain any block elements and can be displayed inline) or not inline (if it does contain block elements).

Don’t you have a blog feature in Freeway?
So Why use Wordpress?

That said…
It's funny to me how so many computer types myself included come from a music background.
Good luck with fretspace.

If you create a blog in Wordpress, you can link to that from a web site that you make in Freeway or Xway.

Freeway isn't a blogging program. There are some Actions that you can use to create templates for Blogger (but not Wordpress). You can also "roll your own" blog according to the following article:
