Re: Serial Number.

Hi Gavin,

You don't need a Freeway serial number to use Xway b1 - it's free for anyone to use.

You can register your serial number with us, on our support page (https://www.softpress.com/register/index.html ), but it's valid whether you register it or not.

When we start selling Xway, there will be an upgrade path for Freeway users with serial numbers.

Serial Number.

Hi,

I guess that to obtain sight of the Xway beta we will need to enter our previous serial number for Freeway?
Luckily I did a bit of delving in my old emails to find the number of my version (7.1.4) however I may not have registered it as it doesn't appear on the list I just had emailed to me. Will this be an issue?

Looking forward to the fireworks.

Gavin

Hi Jay,

Since this is Xway Talk, my suggestion is that you try Xway when it is released (tomorrow).

Xway has a detailed step-by-step tutorial that you can use to create a new site that will display flexibly on different devices. You could adapt this to create your own pages.

Wordpress is good for blogs. I used it for my Fretspace blog:

For me not so easy to get through.

Xway is of course a welcome change since the company and product went belly up.

My questions are:

If I am not that savvy to begin with.

Would I be better served with Elementor or Divi vs Freeway?

Or is Wordpress better or worse than a separate build like freeway?

Is there as much “Code Bloat with Freeway as there are with Elementor or Divi?

Which is better at SEO searches etc?

Seriously I am stuck trying to build another site and started with Godaddy Site Builder which to me has become a mistake in
just a few weeks of it being up.

I am writing a book on how to reduce back pain from a patients perspective and need to be able to do Amazon Affiliate sales along with a blog.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Hi Andries,

I'll let Max answer, but the following two points might be relevant:

1. Xway doesn't support Actions yet (it's on our to-do list).

2. It does support markup and markup items

Hi Max

how are you?

I know you've done a immens lot of work for WepYep 2.0. Is that work lost now Freeway is vanishing and X-way is coming up?
Or is there a way that WepYep can succeed also with X-way?

Thanks

Andries

In future, Xway will be able to open Freeway documents.

You can use it to build new web sites now. You can also paste or import content from your existing web site into a new Xway site. If you have a fixed-size web site and you would like to create a flexible web site that adjusts to different devices (computers, tablets, phones), starting afresh in Xway isn't such a bad idea.

Yes - the manual is a PDF, with a table of contents and cross references.

(There isn't an index, but since it's a PDF you can use the Search bar in Preview.)

No reason - it's just how it worked out!

So if I made a duplicate of my Freeway 7 file (saving the original file and Freeway 7 application for later use if I disired), would I be able to use Xway to open the duplicate file and modify that? It almost sounds like using Xway will require us to build a new website completely starting over.

Re: Backwards Compatible

Not initially. Being able to open an existing Freeway 7 file is a goal that Jeremy has stated he wants to meet.

One thing I would imagine is that once such a file is brought into Xway, it will no longer work in Freeway. That's pretty normal, though, and every version of Freeway before it has acted that way when you upgrade a document to the new format.

Such good news, that is! Can't hardly wait for 11/5

Backwards Compatible

Will Xway be backwards compatible with current Freeway 7 files. That is, Will I be able to open a current Freeway 7 project using Xway, or will I have to build my site from scratch?

I'm very much looking forward to seeing your hard work next week Jeremy.

It is good to see you've moved the discussion list here as well as I've not been getting any notifications from FW Talk for a long while now.
It's good to be back. :-)

My bad. Talking about silent, I tried the silent editing and chose the wrong noisy option.

Something that the new forum has is the ability to edit (your own) posts: click on "More" (next to "Like") and choose "Edit Message".

You can choose whether to edit silently or sent out a new (edited) email. For small edits, I think silent editing is the best option.
