The file is called:

Re: Exhibeo with SSL/HTTPS (from FW)

Is the Exhibeo gallery called "Exhibeo"?

I can see a box called "Exhibeo" inside another box called "Exhibeo-box" - but the inner box is empty and the outer box does not contain any other content:

<DIV ID="Exhibeo-box"><DIV ID="Exhibeo"></DIV></DIV>

Hi Jeremy (Happy New Year!)

I should have given you an example link...  this is for a client site - UGP

I'm getting some errors which I need to fix, but not for Exhibeo:

Re: Exhibeo with SSL/HTTPS (from FW)

Hi Grant,

Does Safari report any errors when you "View Source" for these pages?

Exhibeo with SSL/HTTPS (from FW)

grantsymon

I've been waiting for XWay to have Exhibeo support, prior to moving my site across to XWay and now that it's here, I'm about to start...  however...

A few days ago I switched my site across to HTTPS.  In FW I changed the markup for some of my image galleries which use Juicebox to HTTPS and that worked perfectly and simply.  I use the Exhibeo Action for some other image galleries and these have stopped working.  Pages are blank.  I can't find anywhere that I would need to change anything in FW to get them working again except maybe the Upload settings which currently have my website name as just www. and not http://www.

Can anyone suggest what I could do to fix this?  I currently have both HTTP and HTTPS viewable via my webhost settings, but either way, the Exhibeo galleries don't show up.

Any help much appreciated.

Re: Using the Showtime theme

It's not really an Exhibeo/Xway issue, though. The only difference between having the gallery in Xway as opposed to having it in Freeway is that Xway sets a minimum height and Freeway doesn't. If you remove the minimum height in Xway, the gallery will behave identically on an Xway or Freeway page. (You can also add an actual height - as Freeway does by default - but this causes problems in both Xway and Freeway if there's anything further down the page).

This is primarily a Showtime issue: the JavaScript for the Showtime theme is using minimum height in a weird way (the same problems happen if you add a minimum height in Freeway). We've logged it as a bug in Showtime - thanks for bringing it to our attention!

Thanks for all the suggestions. The problems only occur when thumbnails are included, so I'll just remove those until Exhibeo is more compatible with Xway.

It's annoying that the component shrinks to zero height on Xway's page, but we will find a way to stop this from happening in a future version of Xway (either by setting a default content height or by figuring out the actual content height).

I haven't looked at the JavaScript yet, but the simplest way to have this gallery work in the same way in Xway and Freeway is to remove the minimum height. That will cause it to shrink to zero height on the Xway page, but you can get around that by giving it an actual height (e.g. 100px) which somehow gets overridden - this is what happens if I insert the gallery on a Freeway page (the height is automatically set to 100px).

To me, it looks like this is some kind of bug in the gallery code. If you remove the 100px height in Freeway and set a 100px minimum height, the gallery that Freeway exports will behave in the way you say it behaves in Xway. If you remove the 100px minimum height in Xway and set a 100px height, the gallery that Xway exports will behave in same way as a Freeway-exported gallery where you don't change height and min height. My guess is that the JavaScript is doing something with the minimum height, and removing it in Xway (or not adding it in Freeway) prevents this from happening.

Actually, I'm looking into it now so don't worry about sending a document - I'll get back to you if we need one.

Hi Simon. I've spent several hours trying alternatives as the minimum height was already set to 200px. The only way I could stop the thumbnails disappearing behind the footer box was to rebuild the elements on a new page and although all the dimensions remained the same, whatever caused the problem vanished.
I applied a maximum height of 600px which kept the elements together on a big screen, though when resizing, the gallery, thumbs and navigation buttons all separate (though not as far apart as when I had no maximum height) so a browser refresh is required to get them back in place.
This particular theme worked far better with Freeway, so I suppose it's early days for Exhibeo with Xway.
Thanks
Geoff

http://www.louthfolkclub.org.uk/guestgallery.html was my starting point. The page displays satisfactorily at full-screen, but reducing the screen size, or viewing on an iPhone results in the captions and navigation arrows becoming detached from the images and the thumbnails partially vanishing behind the bottom box in landscape view, and completely in portrait. This still occurs if I delete the bottom ‘privacy & cookies’ box.

Two other test pages, one with and one without thumbnails, give different results.

The Exhibeo help section is somewhat rudimentary when it comes to setting sizes and spacing, so I’m not sure if it’s actually an Exhibeo problem, or some of my settings in Xway. Any thoughts?

Hi David,

Thanks for the feedback, I've logged suggestions for 1, 3, 4 and 5.

For 2, the border width and colour can be changed and in the case of Bloxx, thumbnails with titles can be made to look somewhat polaroidy - presumably for the polaroid example, you want uniform shapes regardless of the aspect ratio of the image contained within the 'polaroid', is that right?

If your images allow for it, an option available in the current version would be to crop all images to the same aspect ratio - one that gets the polaroid shape you desire. In the images view, if you hover over the first image you'll see buttons appear underneath for various transformations including manually cropping and cropping to preset ratios, e.g. square. Once you have the desired ratio on the first thumbnail, open the preset menu and choose apply to others at the bottom.

Ensure your images have titles in the metadata view and then customize the theme. Under thumbnails, the border size, colour and corner radius can be changed.

What other kind of style changes do you have in mind? Are there examples you can point to?

---

For 3 and 4, moving the thumbnails to the top and turning off the arrows/dots can currently be achieved by editing the export. Moving the thumbnails to the left/right is more complex and not currently supported.

For 3, moving the thumbnails to the top, this can be done by moving a section of the exported code from after another section to before it. Specifically, in the exported HTML you will find '<div class="xb-showtime_slidereel">' and then further down '</div>' immediately before '<script>'.

Select full lines from that first div line to the last /div line, inclusive and without the script line, then cut. Next find '<div class="xb-showtime_slideshow">' above that, place the cursor at the start of that line and paste.

---

For 4, again look at the exported HTML and you will find the following:
window.xb_impress(document.scripts[document.scripts.length-1].parentNode.id, {

After the { and before }, paste the following to remove the arrows and the dots:
arrows: false, dots: false

If there is already something between the parenthesis in your export, you will need to ensure there is a comma between what was already there and that text.

---

Note that for both of the after-export changes, this would need to be done after each export.
